What Blackout is

Blackout is a free tool that helps you cover private details in screenshots. It runs in your browser.

It is a helper, not a guarantee

Automatic detection misses things. It can fail on names, faces, handwriting, small or blurry text, unusual formats and anything it cannot read. It can also box things that are not private. You are responsible for checking the final image before you share it. We do not promise that any image is fully redacted or safe to publish.

Your content

Your images stay on your device, and you keep all rights to them. Only use Blackout on images you are allowed to edit.

Use at your own risk

Blackout is provided as it is, with no warranty of any kind. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or harm from using it, including information that stays visible in an image you shared.
